MEA-MFT Lodging Information:
There are rooms blocked at The Northern and The Hilltop. They are around $70 for the Hilltop and $110 for The Northern. Unreserved rooms will be released on September 28 or 29 so make your reservations today to take advantage of these special rates.
We have 25 exciting sectionals for teachers to attend this fall. You should feel proud of our offerings; we’re providing great workshops for k-8 teachers, teachers in language arts and social studies; IEFA materials; high techs and hands-on alike.
According to Jami Wood, MEA-MFT coordinator: “The local planning group has requested that presenters bring own laptop for their presentation. They will be able to plug into the projectors.”
7 a.m. Thursday the 15th: Breakfast Biz meeting to set agenda for annual business meeting and discuss any new agenda items on your minds
12 noon Thursday: Annual Meeting and Lunch, Skyview Room 262. Agenda includes reports from treasurer, membership, MAI, Winter Retreat, and YAM. Also, comments or reports from any other members who’d like to raise art ed issues, programs, or concerns are welcome.
4:30-6:00 pm. Reception and Crowning of our new Art Teacher of the Year at the Yellowstone Art Museum

The auction will be on Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm. Location is in The Yellowstone Art Museum.
Plan on making a piece to auction off. It s a load of fun and together we raise money for MAEA at the same time. Thank you for sharing your artwork.

Who: Kris Musto, Principal Admissions Counselor and Secondary Ed. Outreach Coordinator, Minneapolis College of Art and Design
Topic: Preparing for a Life of Art
What can we provide for students interested in a life in art? Using examples of high school student artwork, and stories from Kris' 15 years experience in art school admissions, we'll discuss fresh ideas about the Artist's Role, Portfolio Preparation, Scholarships, Careers in the Arts and merging Concept and Technical Skill.
